Our customers’ safety and enjoyment is at the heart of our planning. Our staff constantly keep up to date with the latest information, and react quickly. With the latest information in mind, we would like to ask that our wonderful visitors please adhere to the ‘group of six rule’. Just to remind you that we are a fully open-air and spacious family attraction with Covid-19 measures firmly in place.
We are now officially “Good to Go”! and have received our We’re Good to Go certificate from Visit England. Acquiring this Industry Standard mark means we have followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, including having a Risk Assessment in place and a process to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

Social Distancing Measures
We have taken the sensible and caring decision to significantly reduce our daily numbers to only half capacity to allow for social distancing.
We have created a fun system with a child-friendly agenda for the children to follow with their parents/carers. We at Audley End Miniature Railway want to ensure that our visitors feel at ease and fully enjoy their magical experience. We would like to ask that our wonderful visitors please adhere to the ‘group of six rule’ too.
All tickets will now be purchased online and shown to our hospitality officer on arrival. We will also be cashless to reduce contact.
We have invested in multiple hand sanitiser dispensers and outdoor wash basins around the site. We have staff specifically focused on cleaning at all times, and spraying and wiping regularly with D10. We have also invested in a chemical that has been sprayed onto our play equipment, trains and carriages that kills bacteria and the virus on contact. The chemical lasts up to 28 days on the surface however we are respraying after every 10 days.
Outdoor Woodland Café
We have a brand new outdoor Woodland Café in the woodland park area. Woodland café surfaces and equipment will be regularly washed, and the counter will be protected with a Perspex screen. We have also designed and created a fun social distancing serving mechanism – a giant Lazy Susan! With the luxury of a spacious site we are easily able to space out our tables so that families can enjoy snacking in a safe and happy place. We also have a brand new exciting adventure play area that will be wiped down regularly. During the winter months we will also be investing in several open sided Tipi Tents for you to enjoy your refreshments.
Take Away Cafe
We have introduced a Take Away Cafe area in our original Signal Box Cafe. This area will available to you before your train ride at Halloween or Christmas to purchase any drinks or snacks you may wish to take on the train with you. We will have a range of hot and cold drinks, plus, crisps, biscuits, chocolate bars and sausage rolls available.
We have recreated our retail shop so you can still treat the children – or yourself! The retail shop has now been moved it into our Admissions area. You will be able to purchase retail items on arrival or departure but not during your visit.
The queueing area for the Train has fun social distancing markers. We will be cleaning the train thoroughly before each train ride. There will be one spacious entrance and a new exit at the entrance of the Fairy and Elf Walk. The carriages also have perspex screens installed between pods to ensure there is protection for families from other customers. We have also invested in a chemical that has been sprayed onto our trains and carriages that kills bacteria and the virus on contact. The chemical lasts up to 28 days on the surface however we are respraying after every 10 days.
We have increased our Toilet cleaning regime. Each toilet will have a spray and towel dispensers so that sanitisation before use can be administered. We have also hired additional toilets around the site to aid the one-way process, and also assist further the ability to socially distance.
Customers will be using the very spacious overflow carpark which will allow comfortable social distancing. Additionally, a two-way socially distanced pathway has been created for our treasured guests to walk from the carpark to the entrance.
We have created a new staff position, ‘Hospitality Officer’, who will greet you in the main carpark and answer any questions you may have.
All of our staff have been committed throughout this period to keeping up to date with all of the latest information. Our staff will be trained according to the government training program and will create a safe and fun atmosphere during your adventure at Audley End Miniature Railway. All staff members will also have their temperature checked on arrival to work.
As we have with our staff members – we would like to ask all of our visitors to please respect their fellow public and adhere to the guidelines. Please protect your fellow visitors from germs. Please help your fellow visitors to enjoy their day.
Due to being an outdoor attraction you will not be required to wear a masks during your experience. All staff members who are serving behind counters will also be wearing clear masks, we like our customers to be able to see us smile!
