Welcome to our new website. There are lots of changes, some of which you’ll notice and others you may not see immediately but are there to make things easier for you to enjoy your visit to us in our online world, before you get to enjoy your visit to our real magical world.

The first things to notice is in the top left-hand corner where you’ll see a little padlock, which shows you the site is now secure all the way through from front to back. It was always secure in the ticketing section, but now it’s completely safe throughout.

The next big change is the way it works on a mobile device. Over the last few years we have noticed more and more customers browsing the website on a mobile and buying tickets on their mobile. The old site, sort of worked, but this one has been designed with mobile in mind right from the outset, so should be much quicker and easier to navigate.

We asked for your help back in early December to decide between two lead typefaces for the new website. In the vote, the clear winner was The typeface Berkshire Swash and so you’ll see that as our main headline font throughout too. Thanks for your help there, it really helped clarify our thinking. The second typeface which is for the body copy is called Raleway which is a brilliant coincidence.

As you can see the whole look and feel is brighter and more open, but we’ve kept the magical illustration style and added more layers to this to make it even more special.

And finally, you’ll see a lot more blogs and news going forwards as we’re going to give you much more insight into what goes on behind the scenes in creating the themes, shows and costumes for the events and everyday running. We’ll also be showing you more of what goes on under the hood of our steam and diesel trains and the amount of work it needs to keep them running beautifully in all weathers and conditions.
