Halloween at Audley End Miniature Railway reached a new level of spookiness in October this year, with a fabulous event that took our guests on a spooky ride on the enchanted train through the beautiful Capability Brown designed gardens.
The event this year was more popular than ever and delivered with even better costumes and the addition of a spooky disco to keep the kids happy and smiling. There was a marquee with all sorts of Halloween loveliness inside and a place to warm up on the colder days.
To gather that many witches in one place took a lot of work and we had to reach out through the fairy and elf network to ask them to congregate here for the entire Halloween period.
Luckily almost all of the rest of the team remained intact throughout the event with only a few ‘frog and toad’ related incidents when Wanda the youngest witch (she’s only just started on her City and Guilds Apprentice Witch qualifications) accidentally zapped a few people who looked at her a little funnily. It’s okay, they are nearly back to normal other than a little croaky voice and a bit of a predilection for hoppingremaining.
The trains all ran on time without any interference from the other earthly powers and the picture below shows one of them crossing the River Cam to a parade of ghosts. It’s not every day you see that around these parts.
Plans for Halloween 2018 are already underway and the event will be even bigger, better and more spooktacular. We hope to see you at Christmas, but if not, then we would love to welcome you in the new year.
