Back in September we told you about the brand new carriages that we were investing in for 2020. Alan Keef Ltd have started the build so we thought we would update you on the progress…
The frame work for the carriages before they were painted. The new carriages have been made from Steel and Aluminium which will be more robust and easier to clean than our current wooden ones.
Once the frame work of the carriages was complete they had their first coat of colour, we love the cream detail against the rich red colour
The panelling above will also feature our infamous green and cream logo
The carriages will have wooden seats, that are bigger and wider than our current ones, meaning you can sit more comfortably than before!
The bogeys have also been individually made
Here we have some of the parts being sprayed below
The new carriages will also feature a new wheelchair carriage. Eliminating the need for our additional wheelchair carriage that we have at the moment. The carriage will have a ramp so the wheelchair can be wheeled straight into the carriage with ease, and the passenger can then enjoy the journey just like any other passenger would.
We are hoping that the new carriages will be ready to run at our Easter Special Event. We will keep you up to date with the progress on our blog in the meantime.
