Audley End goes back to the victorian times

Horse and Carriage rides into Saffron Walden

We were taken back to the victorian times at the weekend when we had some very special guests at the Railway. 4 beautiful Heavy Horses came to visit from a company based in Beccles called N&J Heavy Horses. It was for a trail that was arranged by the Saffron Walden Town Team, Audley End House and us at the Railway. The aim of the trail was to encourage the visitors going to the House and Railway to go into Saffron Walden to explore what it has to offer, and what better way to travel than via Horse and Carriage!

Here we have Hamish and Harry who are Percherons. They are also half brothers!

Monty and Lionel were the other pair, both black shires.

The two pairs passing each other on their trips to and from Audley End into Saffron Walden!
The trial was a huge success with many customers travelling to and from Saffron Walden enjoying a lovely ride via horse and carriage. We are hoping that the trial will continue in 2018 and become more of a permanent feature for our customers to enjoy, especially during the Summer Holidays.
